Why inquire the tie 'tween spirit and body's lair? —
رباعی شمارهٔ 52مرا فرمود پیر نکته دانی
A sage imparted, wisdom deep and profound —
رباعی شمارهٔ 53ز رازی معنی قرآن چه پرسی؟
Why seek Razi for the Quran's essence, you ask? —
رباعی شمارهٔ 54من از بود و نبود خود خموشم
Of my own being or not, I choose to hush —
رباعی شمارهٔ 55ز من با شاعر رنگین بیان گوی
Tell the poet of vibrant verse from me —
رباعی شمارهٔ 56ز خوب و زشت تو ناآشنایم
I am indifferent to your notions of right and wrong —

O Sheikh of the sanctuary! You may not know —

The water-drop, when it is self-illumed, Amidst a hundred as one pearl shall be:

Ye men of learning, I am in a maze, the mind this meaning cannot understand:

Forego the shore’s banquet, where life’s song is tender —

I am a hidden truth from head to toe, unseen —
رباعی شمارهٔ 62مگو از مدعای زندگانی
Speak not about the Purpose of this life: Thou hast not sight to see its blandishments.
رباعی شمارهٔ 63اگر کردی نگه بر پارهٔ سنگ
When you gazed upon a mere fragment of stone —
رباعی شمارهٔ 64وفا ناآشنا بیگانه خو بود
Unfamiliar with loyalty, alien in its ways —
رباعی شمارهٔ 65مپرس از عشق و از نیرنگی عشق
Ask not of love or its enchanting guise —
رباعی شمارهٔ 66مشو ای غنچهٔ نورسته دلگیر
Do not despair, O newly bloomed bud so dear —
رباعی شمارهٔ 67مرا روزی گل افسرده ئی گفت
One day a withered rose thus spoke to me: ‘Our manifesting is a spark swift blown.’
رباعی شمارهٔ 68جهان ما که پایانی ندارد
Our infinite world – of old Time’s ocean swallows it up (like fish).

I'm a companion to the birds in the garden's grace —

Does this valley of flowers appear as it truly is? —

His image in the eyes, oh, what a splendid sight —

A girdled infidel, my brain adores idols it crafts —
رباعی شمارهٔ 74صنوبر بندهٔ آزادهٔ او
The cypress, a free-willed slave to the Divine —
رباعی شمارهٔ 75ز انجم تا به انجم صد جهان بود
From one star to another, hundreds of worlds unfold —
رباعی شمارهٔ 76بپای خود مزن زنجیر تقدیر
Do not bind your own steps with destiny's chain —
رباعی شمارهٔ 77دل من در طلسم خود اسیر است
My heart to its own spell is prisoner; the world is lightened by its radiance fair.
رباعی شمارهٔ 78نوا در ساز جان از زخمهٔ تو
In the instrument of my soul, the melody is from Your touch —
رباعی شمارهٔ 79نفس آشفته موجی از یم اوست
Our restless breath is a wave from His endless sea —
رباعی شمارهٔ 80ترا درد یکی در سینه پیچید
In Your heart, a solitary pain did twist and twine —
رباعی شمارهٔ 81کرا جوئی چرا در پیچ و تابی
Whom do you seek, why twist and turn in quest —
رباعی شمارهٔ 82تو ای کودک منش خود را ادب کن
Leave childishness, and learn a better lore; abandon race, if thee a Muslim bore.
رباعی شمارهٔ 83نه افغانیم و نی ترک و تتاریم
Neither Afghan, Turk, nor Tatar are we —
رباعی شمارهٔ 84نهان در سینهٔ ما عالمی هست
There is a world concealed within my breast, heart in my dust, by passion’s grief possest.
رباعی شمارهٔ 85دل من ای دل من ایدل من
My heart, my heart, oh heart of mine —
رباعی شمارهٔ 86چه گویم نکتهٔ زشت و نکو چیست
What maketh Foul and Fair, how shall I say? Tongue trembleth, such a riddle to declare:
رباعی شمارهٔ 87کسی کو درد پنهانی ندارد
One devoid of hidden yearnings (for his Lord) owns but a shell —
رباعی شمارهٔ 88چه پرسی از کجایم چیستم من؟
O ask not what I am, or whence came I: ’Tis self-involvement I am living by:
رباعی شمارهٔ 89به چندین جلوه در زیر نقابی
Beneath the veil, in all Your majestic splendor —
رباعی شمارهٔ 90دل از منزل تهی کن پا بره دار
Forget the goal, be steadfast on the endless quest —
رباعی شمارهٔ 91بیا ای عشق ای رمز دل ما
Come, O love, O the secret of our heart —
رباعی شمارهٔ 92سخن درد و غم آرد ، درد و غم به
Poetry summons pain and sorrow, yet the ache is sweet —
رباعی شمارهٔ 93نه من بر مرکب ختلی سوارم
I ride not on a steed of noble breed —
رباعی شمارهٔ 94کمال زندگی خواهی بیاموز
If you desire life's perfection, listen well —
رباعی شمارهٔ 95تو میگوئی که آدم خاکزاد است
‘A child of earth is Adam’, thou dost say. ‘Bond to the world of being and decay’;
رباعی شمارهٔ 96دل بیباک را ضرغام رنگ است
To the valiant heart, a lion stands as mild as a goat —
رباعی شمارهٔ 97ندانم باده ام یا ساغرم من
Am I the wine, or am I the cup that holds? —
رباعی شمارهٔ 98تو گوئی طایر ما زیر دام است
You say our bird (soul) is beneath a bodily snare confined —
رباعی شمارهٔ 99چسان زاید تمنا در دل ما
How kindles desire in the chambers of our hearts? —
رباعی شمارهٔ 100چو در جنت خرامیدم پس از مرگ
When I was dead, and walked in Paradise, this heaven I could clearly see;
