هنوز از بند آب و گل نرستی

تو گوئی رومی و افغانیم من

Still bound by water and clay's constraint —

You call yourself Rumi, and Afghan by claim.

من اول آدم بی رنگ و بویم

از آن پس هندی و تورانیم من

I am the primordial Adam, without hue or scent —

Then I became Indian and Turanian, as the ages went.
