ای در و دشت تو باقی تا ابد

ای در و دشت تو باقی تا ابد
نعره «لا قیصر و کسری» که زد؟

O you whose valleys and deserts shall remain forever —

Who struck the cry, "Neither Caesar nor Khosrow"?

در جهان نزد و دور و دیر و زود
اولین خوانندهٔ قرآن که بود؟

In this world of time and space —

Who were the first to recite the Holy Quran?

رمز الا الله که را آموختند؟
این چراغ اول کجا افروختند؟

To whom was the secret of "La ilaha" taught?

Where was this lamp first lit?

علم و حکمت ریزه ئی از خوان کیست؟
آیه «فاصبحتم» اندر شأن کیست؟

From whose table are these scraps of knowledge and wisdom?

In whose honor was the verse "So you became brothers" revealed?

از دم سیراب آن امی لقب
لاله رست از ریگ صحرای عرب

From the life-bestowing breath of that Unlettered Prophet (pbuh) —

Tulips bloomed in the sands of the Arab desert.

حریت پروردهٔ آغوش اوست
یعنی امروز امم از دوش اوست

Freedom was nurtured in the lap of that Exalted Being (pbuh) —

The present of nations is indebted to his past era.

او دلی در پیکر آدم نهاد
او نقاب از طلعت آدم گشاد

He placed a heart within the body of Adam —

He lifted the veil from Adam's radiant face.

هر خداوند کهن را او شکست
هر کهن شاخ از نم او غنچه بست

He shattered every ancient idol —

And from every old branch, buds blossomed through his moisture alone.

گرمی هنگامهٔ بدر و حنین
حیدر و صدیق و فاروق و حسین

The heat of the tumult of Badr and Hunayn —

(The advent of) Haider, Siddiq, Farooq, and Hussain.

سطوت بانگ صلوت اندر نبرد
قرأت «الصافات» اندر نبرد

Whether the awe and majesty of the call to prayer on the battlefield —

Or the recitation of Surah As-Saffat during war.

تیغ ایوبی نگاه بایزید
گنجهای هر دو عالم را کلید

Whether the Ayyubi sword or the gaze of Bayazid —

These are the keys to the treasures of two worlds.

عقل و دل را مستی از یک جام می
اختلاط ذکر و فکر روم و ری

To intoxicate both intellect and heart with a single cup of wine —

A blend of Rumi's remembrance and Razi's thought.

علم و حکمت شرع و دین، نظم امور
اندرون سینه دلها ناصبور

Also knowledge and wisdom, Sharia and faith, the administration of affairs —

And the restlessness of hearts within the breast.

حسن عالم سوز الحمرا و تاج
آنکه از قدوسیان گیرد خراج

The world-consuming beauty of Alhambra and the Taj Mahal —

Which receives tribute even from the angels.

این همه یک لحظه از اوقات اوست
یک تجلی از تجلیات اوست

All this is but a single moment from the times of the Prophet (pbuh) —

And but one ray from his manifestations.

ظاهرش این جلوه های دلفروز
باطنش از عارفان پنهان هنوز

His exterior implies these heart-kindling splendors —

His interior remains hidden even from the gnostics.

«حمد بیحد مر رسول پاک را
آنکه ایمان داد مشت خاک را»

Boundless praise be to the Pure Prophet (pbuh) —

He who granted faith to a handful of dust.

حق ترا بران تر از شمشیر کرد

حق ترا بران تر از شمشیر کرد
ساربان را راکب تقدیر کرد

(O Arab Nation!) God made you sharper than a sword —

He made the camel-drivers the riders of destiny.

بانگ تکبیر و صلوت و حرب و ضرب
اندر آن غوغا گشاد شرق و غرب

The cry of Takbir, prayer, jihad, and combat —

Through this very tumult, the affairs of East and West were resolved.

ایخوش آن مجذوبی و دل بردگی
آه زین دلگیری و افسردگی

How blessed was your dedication and selfless devotion then —

And how tragic is your present gloom and melancholy.

کار خود را امتان بردند پیش
تو ندانی قیمت صحرای خویش

Other nations carried their work forward —

You did not know the worth of your own desert.

22
امتی بودی امم گردیده ئی
بزم خود را خود ز هم پاشیده ئی

You were once a single nation, now divided into many —

You have broken up your society yourself.

هر که از بند خودی وارست، مرد
هر که با بیگانگان پیوست، مرد

Whoever broke the bond of the Khudi, embraced death —

Whoever merged with strangers, lost his own identity.

آنچه تو با خویش کردی کس نکرد
روح پاک مصطفی آمد بدرد

What you have done to yourselves, no one else has done —

Your conduct has pained the pure soul of the Chosen One (pbuh).

ای ز افسون فرنگی بی خبر
فتنه ها در آستین او نگر

(O Arab Nation!) You who are unaware of the Frankish magic —

Try to see the mischief hidden up his sleeve.

از فریب او اگر خواهی امان
اشترانش را ز حوض خود بران

If you wish to escape his deception —

Drive his camels away from your ponds.

27
حکمتش هر قوم را بیچاره کرد
وحدت اعرابیان صد پاره کرد

His schemes and tricks have rendered every nation helpless —

He has divided the unity of the Arabs into a hundred pieces.

تا عرب در حلقهٔ دامش فتاد
آسمان یک دم امان او را نداد

Ever since the Arab was caught in his snare —

The sky has not allowed them to sit in peace for a single moment.

عصر خود را بنگر ای صاحب نظر
در بدن باز آفرین روح عمر

O possessor of insight! Look at your era and understand!

Create the spirit of Umar once again within your body!

30
قوت از جمعیت دین مبین
دین همه عزم است و اخلاص و یقین

Power lies in the unity of the true religion —

Religion is strong will, sincerity and faith.

31
تا ضمیرش رازدان فطرت است
مرد صحرا پاسبان فطرت است

As his heart knows the secrets of Nature —

The man of the desert is the guardian of Nature.

ساده و طبعش عیار زشت و خوب
از طلوعش صد هزار انجم غروب

He is simple, his nature is the touchstone of right and wrong —

His rise means setting of a hundred thousand stars.

بگذر از دشت و در و کوه و دمن
خیمه را اندر وجود خویش زن

Pass beyond the deserts, the valleys, the mountains and meadows —

And pitch your tent within your own being.

طبع از باد بیابان کرده تیز
ناقه را سر ده به میدان ستیز

Creating sharpness in your nature from the desert wind —

Cast the dromedary into the battlefield.

عصر حاضر زادهٔ ایام تست
مستی او از می گلفام تست

The modern age is born from your past days —

The intoxication of its new sciences is due to your red wine.

شارح اسرار او تو بوده ئی
اولین معمار او تو بوده ئی

You were the one who interpreted its secrets —

You were the first to construct the building of these sciences.

37
تا به فرزندی گرفت او را فرنگ
شاهدی گردید بی ناموس و ننگ

But since the West took these sciences into its adoption —

They became like a beauty devoid of honor and shame.

گرچه شیرین است و نوشین است او
کج خرام و شوخ و بی دین است او

Although she is very sweet and luscious —

But she walks crookedly, is insolent, and without faith.

39
مرد صحرا! پخته تر کن خام را
بر عیار خود بزن ایام را

O dweller of the desert! Make what is unripe mature —

And refashion the world according to your touchstone.
