غزل شمارهٔ 1–اَلا یا اَیُّهَا السّاقی اَدِرْ کَأسَاً و ناوِلْها

Ho! O Saki, pass around and offer the bowl: For love at first appeared easy, but difficulties have occurred.

غزل شمارهٔ 3–اگر آن تُرکِ شیرازی به‌‌ دست‌ آرَد دلِ ما را

If that Bold One of Shiraz gain our heart, For His dark mole, I will give Samarkand and Bukhara.

غزل شمارهٔ 5–دل می‌رود ز دستم صاحب‌دلان خدا را

For God’s sake. O pious ones! forth from the hand, goeth my heart. For God’s sake: O the pain that the hidden mystery should be disclosed.

غزل شمارهٔ 10–دوش از مسجد سویِ میخانه آمد پیرِ ما

Last night from the Masjed towards the wine tavern our Pir came: O friends of the Path! after this, what is our plan?

غزل شمارهٔ 11–ساقی به نورِ باده برافروز جامِ ما

Saki! with the light of wine, up-kindle the cup of ours. Minstrel! speak, saying: “The world’s work hath gone to the desire of ours.”

غزل شمارهٔ 17–سینه از آتش دل، در غمِ جانانه بسوخت

From the fire of my heart, my chest in grief for the Beloved consumed. In this house, was a fire, that the house consumed.

غزل شمارهٔ 19–ای نسیمِ سحر آرامگَهِ یار کجاست؟

O fragrant morning breeze! The Beloved’s rest-place is where? The dwelling of that Moon, Lover-slayer, Sorcerer, is where?

غزل شمارهٔ 33–خلوت گُزیده را به تماشا چه حاجت است

To him that hath chosen solitude, of the spectacle is what need? When the street of the Beloved is, of the desert is what need?

غزل شمارهٔ 74–حاصلِ کارگه کون و مکان این همه نیست

The produce of the workshop of existence and dwelling all this is naught; Bring wine. For the goods of the world all this is naught.

غزل شمارهٔ 76–جُز آسْتان تواَم در جَهان، پَناهی نیست

Save Thy threshold, my shelter in the world is none. Save this door, my fortress-place is none.

غزل شمارهٔ 101–شراب و عیش نهان چیست؟ کارِ بی‌بنیاد

Wine and hidden pleasure, what are they? Baseless work. On the ranks of profligates we dashed. What is fit to be-be!

غزل شمارهٔ 143–سال‌ها دل طلبِ جامِ جم از ما می‌کرد

Search for the cup of Jamshid from me, years my heart made. And for what it possessed, from a stranger, entreaty made.

غزل شمارهٔ 159–نقدِ صوفی نه همه صافیِ بی‌غَش باشد

Not all purity without alloy is the coat of the Sufi; O many a Khirka, that is worthy of the fire!

غزل شمارهٔ 161–کِی شعر تر انگیزد خاطر که حزین باشد

How a verse exciteth afresh the heart that is sorrowful! A subtlety out of this book, we uttered; and is this very subtlety.

غزل شمارهٔ 164–نفسِ بادِ صبا مُشک‌فشان خواهد شد

Musk-diffusing, the breath of the morning breeze shall be: Again the world old young shall be.

غزل شمارهٔ 165–مرا مِهر سیَه چشمان ز سر بیرون نخواهد شد

As for me, out of my head, love for those dark of eye will not go: This is the sky’s decree; and other way, it will not be.

غزل شمارهٔ 166–روزِ هجران و شبِ فُرقَتِ یار آخر شد

“The day of separation from, and the night of disunion with, the Beloved is ended:” This omen, I cast; the star passed; and the work of grief is ended.

غزل شمارهٔ 167–ستاره‌ای بدرخشید و ماهِ مجلس شد

The star gleamed; and the moon of the assembly became: Of our affrighted heart, the consoler and comforter became.

غزل شمارهٔ 183–دوش وقتِ سَحَر، از غُصّه نجاتم دادند

غزل شمارهٔ 184–دوش دیدم که ملائک درِ میخانه زدند

Last night I saw that the angels beat the door of the tavern, The clay of Adam, they shaped and into the mould, they cast.

غزل شمارهٔ 187–دلا بسوز که سوزِ تو کارها بِکُنَد

O heart! Consume. For deeds thy consuming maketh: The repelling of a hundred calamities, the midnight supplication maketh.

غزل شمارهٔ 195–غلامِ نرگسِ مستِ تو تاجدارانند

The slave of thy intoxicated eye, crown-possessors are: Undone with the wine of Thy ruby lip, sensible ones are.

غزل شمارهٔ 196–آنان که خاک را به نظر کیمیا کنند

Those Mursheds, who, with their glance alchemy of the dust make, At us, eye-cornering, do they make?

غزل شمارهٔ 197–شاهدان گر دلبری زین سان کنند

If, in this way, heart-ravishingness, lovely ones make, In the faith of Zaheds, breaches, they will make.

غزل شمارهٔ 198–گفتم کِی ام دهان و لبت کامران کنند؟

I said: “Me, prosperous, Thy mouth and lip, when do they make?” He said: “By my eye whatever thou sayest even so do they make.”

غزل شمارهٔ 199–واعظان کاین جلوه در محراب و منبر می‌کنند

The admonishers who, in the prayer-arch and the pulpit, grandeur make, When into their chamber they go, that work of another kind they make.

غزل شمارهٔ 200–دانی که چنگ و عود چه تَقریر می‌کنند؟

Thou knowest what tale that the harp and the lyre make? Secretly drink ye wine that thee precious they may make.

غزل شمارهٔ 210–دوش در حلقهٔ ما قصّهٔ گیسویِ تو بود
