رجب بیرون شد و شعبان درآمد

رجب بیرون شد و شعبان درآمد
برون شد جان ز تن جانان درآمد

Rajab has gone out and Sha‘b¯an has entered; the soul has quit the body, and the Beloved has entered.

دم جهل و دم غفلت برون شد
دم عشق و دم غفران درآمد

The breath of ignorance and the breath of heedlessness have gone forth; the breath of love and the breath of forgiveness have entered.

بروید دل گل و نسرین و ریحان
چو از ابر کرم باران درآمد

The heart is sprouting roses and eglantine and basil, since from the cloud of generosity rain has arrived.

دهان جمله غمگینان بخندد
بدین قندی که در دندان درآمد

The mouths of all the sorrowful ones are laughing because of this candy which has entered the teeth.

چو خورشید آدمی زربفت پوشد
چو آن مه روی زرافشان درآمد

Man is wearing gold brocade like the sun, since that goldscattering moon-faced one has entered.

بزن دست و بگو ای مطرب عشق
که آن سرفتنه پاکوبان درآمد

Clap hands and speak, minstrel of love, for that ringleader of trouble has entered stamping feet.

اگر دی رفت باقی باد امروز
وگر عمر بشد عثمان درآمد

If yesterday has gone, may today remain forever, and if ‘Umar has departed, ‘Uthm¯an has entered.

همه عمر گذشته بازآید
چو این اقبال جاویدان درآمد

All the past life is returning, since this eternal prosperity has entered.

چو در کشتی نوحی مست خفته
چه غم داری اگر طوفان درآمد

If you are drunk and asleep in the ship of Noah, why should you worry if the Flood has arrived?

منور شد چو گردون خاک تبریز
چو شمس الدین در آن میدان درآمد

The earth of Tabriz has become lit up like the sky, since Shams al-D¯ın has entered that maidan {= arena, square}.
