سر گذشت آدم اندر شرق و غرب
1

سر گذشت آدم اندر شرق و غرب

بهر خاکی فتنه های حرب و ضرب

The history of the East and West tells that all wars and bloodshed has been for the land.

2

یک عروس و شوهر او ما همه

آن فسونگر بی همه هم با همه

Land (Earth) is the bride and and we are her husbands; this witch is with all of us and at the same time with none of us.

3

عشوه های او همه مکر و فن است

نی از آن تو نه از آن من است

All of its actions are mere pretentions; otherwise she is neither yours nor mine.

4

در نسازد با تو این سنگ و حجر

این ز اسباب حضر تو در سفر

These rocks and stones do not suite you; you are a wayfarer and these are stationary.

اختلاط خفته و بیدار چیست

ثابتی را کار با سیار چیست

Who is awake and who is asleep? What has a wayfarer to do with static!

حق زمین را جز متاع ما نگفت

این متاع بی بها مفت است مفت

God has termed the land only as our asset and that asset has been given free of cost.

ده خدایا نکته ئی از من پذیر

رزق و گور از وی بگیر او را مگیر

Listen and understand this point O landlord: Seek livelihood and space for grave; do not grab the land.

صحبتش تا کی تو بود و او نبود

تو وجود و او نمود بی وجود

How long is its co-existence with you! You were there when it did not exist; you exist today whereas it is perceived to be existing.

9

تو عقابی طایف افلاک شو

بال و پر بگشا و پاک از خاک شو

You are an eagle rise to the sky; and even fly beyond the limits of the skies.

10

باطن «الارض ﷲ» ظاهر است

هر که این ظاهر نبیند کافر است

The meanings of ‘the earth is the Lord’s’ are obvious; one who does not understand this clear message is a kaafir.

11

من نگویم در گذر از کاخ و کوی

دولت تست این جهان رنگ و بوی

I do not urge you to give up this world, because it is your precious asset.

12

دانه دانه گوهر از خاکش بگیر

صید چون شاهین ز افلاکش بگیر

Pick the grains from dust like the pearls but also prey from the sky like a hawk.

13

تیشهٔ خود را به کهسارش بزن

نوری از خود گیر و بر نارش بزن

Use your pick (and shovel) at its mountains; marshal your spiritual power to invade its material being.

14

از طریق آزری بیگانه باش

بر مراد خود جهان نو تراش

Give up the habit of carving new idols and instead create a new world commensurating your ideas.

15

دل به رنگ و بوی و کاخ و کو مده

دل حریم اوست جز با او مده

Do not tie-up your heart with material world; heart is God’s abode, let no one enter that.

16

مردن بی برگ و بی گور و کفن

گم شدن در نقره و فرزند و زن

What dying broke having nothing for grave or coffin? It is to get engrossed in accumulating wealth and lost in the company of wife and the son.

17

هر که حرف لااله از بر کند

عالمی را گم بخویش اندر کند

One who memorized (practiced) ‘la ilah’ he virtually possessed the entire world.

18

فقر جوع و رقص و عریانی کجاست؟

فقر سلطانی است رهبانی کجاست؟

Faqr is not to starve and dance (half) naked; but it is to rule the world, not to stay away from it.
