آن یوسف خوش عذار آمد
1
آن یوسف خوش عذار آمد
وان عیسی روزگار آمد

That Joseph handsome of cheek has come, that Jesus of the age has come;

2
وان سنجق صد هزار نصرت
بر موکب نوبهار آمد

That banner of a hundred thousand victories has come fluttering over the cavalcade of spring.

ای کار تو مرده زنده کردن
برخیز که روز کار آمد

You whose business it is to bring the dead to life, arise, for the day of work has come.

شیری که به صید شیر گیرد
سرمست به مرغزار آمد

The lion which seizes lions a-hunting has come into the meadowland raging drunk.

دی رفت و پریر نقد بستان
کان نقد خوش عیار آمد

Yesterday and the day before have departed; seize the cash, for that coin of fair assay has come.

این شهر امروز چون بهشتست
می‌گوید شهریار آمد

This city today is like paradise; it is saying, “The Prince has come.”

می‌زن دهلی که روز عیدست
می‌کن طربی که یار آمد

Beat the drum, for it is the day of festival; be joyous, for the Friend has come.

ماهی از غیب سر برون کرد
کاین مه بر او غبار آمد

A moon has lifted its head out of the unseen, in comparison with which this moon has become as dust;

9
از خوبی آن قرار جان‌ها
عالم همه بی‌قرار آمد

Because of the beauty of those souls’ repose, the whole world has become restless.

10
هین دامن عشق برگشایید
کز چرخ نهم نثار آمد

Take heed, spread open the skirt of love, for sprinkling has come from the ninth heaven.

ای مرغ غریب پربریده
بر جای دو پر چهار آمد

O exile bird with cut pinions, in the place of two wings four have come.

هان ای دل بسته سینه بگشا
کان گمشده در کنار آمد

Ho, heart bound in breast, open, for that lost one has come into your bosom.

13
ای پای بیا و پای می‌کوب
کان سرده نامدار آمد

Foot, come and stamp foot, for that illustrious cupbearer has come.

از پیر مگو که او جوان شد
وز پار مگو که پار آمد

Speak not of the old man, for he has become young, and speak not of yesteryear, for the Friend has come.

15
گفتی با شه چه عذر گویم
خود شاه به اعتذار آمد

You said, “What excuse shall I utter to the king?” The king himself has come making excuses.

گفتی که کجا رهم ز دستش
دستش همه دستیار آمد

You said, “Whither shall I escape out of his hand?” His hand has come bringing all succour.

17
ناری دیدی و نور آمد
خونی دیدی عقار آمد

You saw a fire, and light has come; you saw blood, and red wine has come.

18
آن کس که ز بخت خود گریزد
بگریخته شرمسار آمد

That one who was fleeing from his own fortune, having fled, has come back shamefaced.

19
خامش کن و لطف‌هاش مشمر
لطفیست که بی‌شمار آمد

Be silent, and count not his graces; an innumerable grace it is that has come.
