Shaikh Ghulam Hamdani Mushafi

Shaikh Ghulam Hamdani Mushafi was a prolific classical Urdu poet and a contemporary of Mir Taqi Mir. His literary life was associated with the poetic circles of Delhi and Lucknow. Haidar Ali Aatish was among his pupils.

Mushafi’s ghazals combine personal feeling with conversational fluency. Alongside his poetry, his biographical accounts of poets are an important source for understanding the literary life of his age.
