ʿUshshaq-nameh

Attribution note: This book is traditionally attributed to Iraqi, but it is not his work. Its correct title is ʿIshq-nameh, and it was written by the poet Izz al-Din Atayi, who was alive in 1321–22.

The Encyclopaedia of Persian Language and Literature, volume four, page 597, published by the Academy of Persian Language and Literature under the supervision of Ismail Sa‘adat in 2012–13, describes ʿUshshaq-nameh, also known as Dah Fasl, as a masnavi that has been edited and published several times and includes stories about love of beautiful youths. Contrary to Zarrinkub’s statement on page 148, the work shows no trace of Ibn Arabi’s thought. It is not by Iraqi, but by the Tabrizi poet Izz al-Din Atayi, a panegyrist of Shams al-Din Juvayni.

Sara Savarsafli has also published the work under the title ʿIshq-nameh and the name of its true author, Izz al-Din Atayi. Readers interested in the question of authorship should consult the introduction to that edition.
